what I know about love could fit
on a flake of snow and step gently
off a cloud I could live to a thousand
and never kiss better than

the present look how these tulips
kiss themselves up through the ground
look how they bruise in the brightest
whites and pinks what I miss most

about Earth isn’t one season
or another but how they formed
a bridge of sorrows and how together
we walked across it holding hands

of course knowing that we had
nowhere to go back then our sorrows
were birdseed we could scatter
and wait for their wings
