Your humble columnist, around one-eighths through his reading of one book by each Nobel laureate in literature, takes a moment to salute Mo Yan on his winning of this year’s prize. Like many American readers, I feel shamed and sheepish for knowing only vaguely of the gentleman’s work, but readers of What The Swedes Read will know that I’ll get to him soon enough.
